From 8 years working in Finance in London to establishing an events agency in Sydney - it could be said that my path to The Assembly Hall has seen a few twists and turns along the way.

Before my diversion into Finance I studied Interior Design in Melbourne and it was only once I returned to Australia and established an events agency that I was able to return to a creative field.

After a hiatus from work to raise little ones and a move from Hong Kong to Singapore, I again craved something creative.  So I learnt photography, got to grips with Wordpress, started writing and established Lottie is Loving – a lifestyle blog.  Soon a blog turned into a business providing styling and photography services in Singapore.

However, Lottie is Loving showed me that setting up a business can be a lonely job and I wished along the way that there had been a creative community to turn to, to ask the simplest of questions or get some small business support and feedback.  When I met Kate I found a kindred spirit who believes in sharing information and passing on the skills we have learnt to help others fulfill their creative potential. And so the idea of The Assembly Hall was born.

I am looking forward to meeting you at one of our Workshops and have you join The Assembly Hall community.

Like many of us, I left school not knowing what I really wanted to do. I completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Public Relations and fell into the land of ad agencies. It was an exciting and fast paced career, perfect for my 20’s, but I knew I couldn’t do it forever. After a challenging year, I packed up my life and wandered around the globe for a year without much of a plan and along the way decided that I would go back to study something that I’d always dreamt about – Interior Design.

After completing my studies in Melbourne as the Design Institute of Australia’s Graduate of the Year in my field, I went to work on residential projects and never looked back. Following the birth of my first son, I was at University (again!) but this time to teach interior design. My main subjects were colour, residential interiors, and soft furnishings. I have formal qualifications in Training and Assessment at University level, but more importantly I love being in a classroom.

Skip ahead a few years, throw in a relocation to Singapore and another baby, and then I started a small business - Floweret Co, an online fresh flowers business. Starting a business has been a steep learning curve but I’m so glad that I took the plunge, put an idea in to action, and learnt the skills I did because it has all laid the path for The Assembly Hall.

For me, The Assembly Hall is a culmination of all of my previous experience and loves - design, flowers, teaching, and most of all, people. See you at The Assembly Hall soon!
